THE OIL SPILL IN THE GULF OF MEXICO

Energy giant BP says it has begun pumping a mixture of heavy fluids into the leaking offshore oil well in its latest plan to stop the gushing flow of oil into the Gulf of Mexico. They predict a success rate of 60 to 70 percent.

A clause within the U.S. Clean Water Act may expose BP and others to a fine of up to $4,300 for every barrel of oil spewing into Gulf waters, thus not limiting their financial exposure to any finite cap.

Pray for all those who are involved in the well stoppage, the initial and long-term clean up, and for those whose livelihoods have been dealt a set-back as a result of the damage done by the oil already in the Gulf of Mexico.

The National debt has now passed the $13 trillion mark, and the Dow has fallen below 10,000. And Congress is being pressed to pass additional stimulus funding and supplemental spending bills.
